Adriana Morris, owner-operator of Morris Insurance & Taxes, isn’t just a number cruncher. She works hard to be involved in her community and ensure that people have the tools they need for success through encouraging networking opportunities or helping with her finance and insurance skills. She said she thinks of herself as someone who wants to help others.

“My whole purpose behind wanting to go out and meet new people is mostly to meet new companies and lots of new businesses because there’s a lot of new businesses that I had no idea existed here. So, that part for me is more just networking and getting to know people and what they have to offer,” Morris said.

Morris also volunteers for the Columbia Basin Dispute Resolution Center in Ephrata as a mediator to help families deal with challenges that come up in family life. That may involve setting up parenting plans or helping come up with negotiated family law resolutions.

Morris also works to help support the youth camp at Moses Lake Christian Church and said she was excited that she and three other moms had been able to raise more than $13,000 to support the camp and ministries. She is also involved in the meals and kitchen ministry at the church as well as the nursery.

The fundraising for the camp has allowed more than 80 students to access the camp for $50 per session, rather than the $400 it would have otherwise cost, she said.

Morris homeschools her two children, Laura, 13, and Zachary, 8. She said she tries to make sure they know the importance of helping others. As a mom, she works to ensure they have opportunities to participate in activities such as jujitsu and karate.

Morris said she’s also looking forward to volunteering at National Night Out in August to support local law enforcement.
