40 Under 40: Alexandrea Liebrecht
Alexandrea Liebrecht, more often known as Alex, serves as the Nursing Operations Manager at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata. While her mother-in-law, Karen Liebrecht, was the one to nominate her, a review of her career showed that she is deserving of recognition whether it was pointed out by a family member or her coworkers at the hospital.
Alex oversees the nursing staff at Columbia Basin Hospital, working to ensure the nurses have what they need to thrive in their careers and help patients on the road to recovery.
“Her dedication to successful staffed nursing is observed by her peers. Her input has been requested by attending physicians. It is common for her to roll up her sleeves and help during nursing shortages in the ER or where needed. Her calm, take-charge demeanor is soothing in times of crisis. The quality of care of the patient is always her priority,” Karen said of her daughter-in-law.
“I am Alex’s mother-in-law, which seems biased. It makes me acutely aware of the true nature of her accomplishments. As the past Mayor of Moses Lake and a business owner for over 45 years, I recognize an exceptional employee and one that can turn the tide,” Karen said.
To emphasize, Karen provided an example of Alex’s dedication to her work. A patient Alex’s staff had helped with recovery from a life-threatening infection other hospitals had overlooked recovered at Columbia Basin Hospital. When leaving, he said the care Alex’s staff provided was like family taking care of family and they helped restore his will to live.
Alex is dedicated to quality care and make a difference, Karen said.
“Alexandrea’s contributions to our local health care system are life-changing and life-giving. From the exciting first breath taken in our world to our final one leaving our loved ones, we depend on our medical heroes. Alex is a hero to be recognized and praised,” Karen said.
Alex is also involved with her children’s activities and supports Ephrata Youth Baseball.
