Ritzville rodeo results

RITZVILLE — The 2024 Ritzville Rodeo paid out close to $19,000 to cowboys and cowgirls competing in various events, according to Aces Wild Pro Rodeo’s press release. These are the official results of the 54th annual Ritzville Rodeo. 

For bareback riders, which is where riders sit on a horse without a saddle and must stay on for eight seconds, the higher the horse bucks, the higher the cowboy’s score. There was one winner, Payton Robinson who took home $850. 

For saddle bronc Bodee Gudmunson was the lone winner, taking home $750.

For bull riding, which had no successful riders on Friday, JC Merriott took home the prize of $1,250.  

Six cowgirls placed for open breakaway roping; first place went to Joselyn Arnold, who won $798. Kiley Streeter took second and $660. Maddie Baumberger took third and $523. Fourth place went to Kassidy Bremner with $385. Fifth to Jamie Parvin at $248. Jules Pyper placed sixth at $138. 

Three cowboys placed for calf roping; Travis Eller was the fastest cowboy and won first with a prize of $575. Second place went to Devin Robinson with $345. Third place went to Trace Hennigar with $230.

Three people placed for open goat tying, which is like calf roping, but with a goat.  Jamie Parvin took home first place and $270. Second place went to Kylie Stewart with $162. Third place went to Kelly Cordill with $108.

Team roping, where a pair must catch a calf, the first must lasso the head and the second must catch its back legs, had six teams place; first place went to Brayden Schmidt and BJ Campbell with $957 each. Schmidt placed second as well, with Bucky Campbell as his partner with $792 each. Third place went to Adam Westman and Chance Gleave with $629 each. Fourth place went to Ty Schlecht and Sam Parker with $462 each. BJ Campbell placed again in fifth with Jack Fischer as his partner and $297 each. Sixth place went to Trent Hennigar and Preston Winn with $165 each.

Open barrels, where riders must race their horse around barrels as fast as possible. The event had six people placed as well. First place went to Jolene Holberg with a prize of $754. Kassidy Bremner followed in second with a prize of $624. Third place was Kayla Hurl with $494. Fourth place was Jess Sulgrove with $364. Fifth place was Jorgia Bean with $234. Sixth place was Jackie Gudmunson-Osborn at $135.

There were three winners for chute dogging, which is where a cowboy must wrestle a steer to the ground. First place went to Nathen Hagreen with $280. Second place went to Winston Wade at $168. Carter Krause placed third with $112.

For juniors, no one placed in barrels, according to the Aces Wild Pro Rodeo release. However, two people placed in breakaway. Kelly Cordill came home first with $234 and Rowdy Brockel took home second and $156.
