Farmer Consumer Awareness Day September 14

QUINCY — Everything from a parade to a soccer tournament to a fun run will be on the agenda as the annual Farmer Consumer Awareness Day comes to Quincy Sept. 14. Actually there’s an unofficial kickoff Friday night; the B Street Block Party is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. in the block between Central Avenue South and First Street Southwest. The evening will feature food trucks, beer and wine vendors, games and live music. The “Beat the Beast” run, in memory of Ben Horning, kicks off Saturday’s events. The race starts at 8 a.m., with same day registration at 7 a.m. Runners and walkers have their choice of two-kilometer or five-kilometer courses.
